Five Avondale wines are to fly the flag at the Big Five duty-free shop at Cape Town International Airport.
These wines are now available to local and international flyers on both inbound and outbound flights. The listing will be extended to Oliver Tambo international airport later this year, and include the following wines:
Les Pleurs Merlot 2006 is the quintessence of luxury.
It spent 15 months in new French oak barrels that have softened the tannins and transformed this into a very elegant wine that will mature beautifully for many years to come. Cellar Door price: R256 per bottle.
Graham 2004 is a Bordeaux blend with a Rhône twist.
The Cabernet Sauvignon component gives this wine structure, the Merlot elegance, and the Syrah contributes hints of spice and red berries. Cellar Door price: R141.00 per bottle.
Camissa Syrah 2005 is a perfect balance of power and elegance.
Five years of maturation have brought all the components of this wine into balance, making it the perfect wine to drink now and for the next few years. Cellar Door price: R120 per bottle.
Green Ducks The Duke 2005 is an innovative blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.
A fleshy and full wine with herbaceous notes and olive leaf flavours. Cellar Door price: R158 per bottle.
Green Ducks The Duchess 2007 is our mystery white blend based on Chenin Blanc.
Naturally and oxidatively fermented in 600 litre oak barrels, this wine drinks at its best if decanted before serving to let the wine blossom into a full palate of lime and citrus. Cellar Door price: R86 per bottle.
