Jonty's Ducks Migrate To Finland
Bird watchers get your binoculars and stick-seats! Mothers beware, as it will not be the big evil out to take your daughters when the sky suddenly darkens over your heads.
Thousands of bottles of Avondale Jonty’s Ducks will be winging their way to Finland later this year, with the first container set to leave next month.
The Finnish liquor control board, Alko, has awarded Avondale a tender for the organic Jonty’s Ducks, seemingly as a belated (and much-appreciated) Christmas gift. It is a permanent listing and the wines will be sold at Alko stores across Finland, taking our message of sustainable grape growing and winemaking to the farthest corners of the globe.
Avondale Jonty’s Ducks 2008 was made from organically grown Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon Bio-LOGIC grapes, certified organic by Dutch certifier Control Union.
“There is a groundswell of interest in certified organic wines in Finland and Scandinavia, and we pursued Avondale because they would meet supply requirements and constantly deliver on quality,” says Sari Laurila, managing director of Launer, the company representing Avondale in Finland.
