Experience Avondale at Planet Restaurant

On the eve of the lunar eclipse on the 25th April, Avondale Wine Estate and the Mount Nelson will be hosting an extraordinary seven-course dinner paired with wines at the historic hotel’s Planet Restaurant.  Award-winning Executive Chef Rudi Liebenberg and Sommelier Carl Habel have teamed up with Johnathan Grieve, Proprietor of Avondale, to create a Biodynamic Dinner as part of the Mount Nelson Wine & Dine Dinner Series. Biodynamic farming is largely influenced by the lunar cycles and thus the eclipse of the full moon on the eve of the dinner holds special significance. Seven superb courses will be paired with Avondale’s exquisite handcrafted wines, produced according to the BioLOGIC® methodology. Guests will discover how Avondale uniquely uses the best of modern science, organic and biodynamic practises to create a living system that is perfectly attuned to the rhythms of the cosmos. R460 per person. Contact restaurantreservations@mountnelson.co.za to make a booking.

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra,
and this happens only when the Sun, Earth and Moon are aligned exactly.
A lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon…
