Avondale Cellar Assistant, Ivan September has successfully completed Wine Training South Africa’s (WTSA) Introduction to Junior Cellar Management course.  Over the past three years, Ivan has been dedicated to his studies, advancing through WTSA’s SKOP 1, 2 and 3 modules which include theory, practical excursions and skills training.  His latest achievement is notable as Ivan is one of only 30 graduates of this year’s course.  WTSA’s course curricula have been developed by EKOV (Elsenburg Cellar Technology Alumni Association) which includes some of Cape’s most notable winemakers.  The training programme offers workers who have had no previous formal wine training the opportunity to gain new skills and be exposed to new areas of the wine business.  Ivan completed four modules that included an Introduction to Cellar Administration, Marketing Management, Financial Management and Quality Systems and Legal requirements for cellars.  Some of the past graduates of WTSA’s courses have gone on to become winemakers; and we are proud of Ivan’s dedication and commitment to advancing in his career.
