Avondale is delighted to present Armilla 2010, the latest vintage of our classically-made Blanc de Blanc MCC. Handcrafted from delicious, organically-grown Chardonnay grapes, we take pride in our traditional approach to produce an exceptional bubbly that reflects the vibrancy of life on the Avondale Estate. As with our other wines, we’ve been patient with Armilla 2010, giving it seven years on the lees so that its true character is well-developed. The first two years or so on the coarse lees brought freshness and balance to the wine as the Granny Smith apple nuances emerged. With the second fermentation in the bottle, the wine has then enjoyed more than another four years on the lees. “Following in the footsteps of the 2009 vintage, which was truly outstanding, Armilla 2010 has had big shoes to fill,” says Avondale’s proprietor, Johnathan Grieve. “It differs marginally with a faintly drier feel leading to a slightly fuller palate. It is notable for having all the same elegance that echoes the style of top flight champagnes. We’re delighted that Armilla 2010 has had an amazing reception from the market already.”
