This year, we are welcoming in the spring in superb style with the release of our first vintage of our treasured MCC, Armilla Blanc de Blanc 2009.  This exclusive, handcrafted wine beautifully expresses Avondale’s holistic way of making delicious slow wines.  Graciously given five years on the lees, Armilla Blanc de Blanc 2009 has had plenty of time to develop an exceptional character and outstanding elegance.

Armilla embodies Avondale’s uniquely energised, living system where everything from the minerals in the soil to the stars in the sky is connected to the liveliness of our premium wines.  Rich and round on the palate, Armilla is a perfect balance of warm-toasty hazelnut bread, fresh quince and gardenia. Complex and multi-faceted, the fresh, crisp effervescence is complemented by a full, velvety mouth feel.

Made from the healthy Chardonnay grapes of organically-grown vines in our biodynamic system, we have marked this occasion of a first vintage by presenting Armilla Blanc de Blanc 2009 with a new refined shape to the bottle that harmonises with the superb style and grace of this MCC.

Armilla was first made exclusively in small batches just for the Grieve family of Avondale.  Particularly blessed, the grapes are traditionally hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed to celebrate the first day of harvest.  Years later, Armilla is still hand-made in small batches and it is the wine that holds pride of place amidst Avondale’s extraordinary wines approved by Mother Nature.
