Handcrafted using 100% healthy, organically-grown Mourvèdre grapes, and uniquely given 10 months to ferment and develop in amphora for an exceptional fresh character and outstanding elegance.
Grape Variety – Avondale Amphora made from 100% Mourvèdre grapes. The 16-year-old organically-grown vines have a low yield of 4 tons per hectare of high quality, fresh fruit flavours.
The Making of Amphora– The grapes were hand-picked in the cool early morning at 20˚ to 21˚ Balling. The grapes were whole bunch fermented carbonic maceration style in amphora and left on skins for 3 months. After 3 months in was lightly pressed and taken back to amphora to rest until it was bottled in October 2017.
Amphora’s Character – This is wine is fresh, fruity with soft fine tannins to give it length and a bit of attitude. Avondale Amphora is designed to be chilled and enjoyed wherever, it is perfect option for red wine drinking in Summer.
